OCTOPIA FSTVL LAUNCHES WITH OVER 65 LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL ACTS




Johannesburg, South Africa - From the creators of H2O comes Octopia FSTVL (pronounced "festival") – an electronic music festival with a fresh future forward approach to event décor, production, music and expression, a perfect paradise for house, hip hop, EDM and trance music lovers. Presented by the H2O team who has pioneered the South African dance scene for the past 20 years, this fest boasts nearly 70 performers and DJs - 8 of which are the finest on the international circuit. It will take place at the well-known and well-loved party venue  - Wild Waters, in Gauteng on 8 October.

Grammy Award-winning German DJ and producer, Paul van Dyk is the event’s main headliner, he will be gracing the 8 Energy System - main stage. This will be his first performance in South Africa since 2012 and one of the first after a life threatening accident from which he ha just recently recovered. This main arena will also feature major international acts such as Dutch superstar duo Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, House heavy weight Ferreck Dawn and Swiss based Psy-trance connoisseur Liquid Soul together with the likes of Armada Music's own South African DJ and producer, Protoculture as well as local house music powerhouse, F.Eu (DJ Fresh and Euphonik).

The 3 Hearts Project stage, which is powered by SA’s dance floor elite; Truth Nightclub, Electric Circus and Vimo & His Ous, will feature Berlin-based DJ and producer, Oliver Dollar, local house DJ, Ricardo da Costa and Divas on Decks founder, Lady Lea.

Octopus Valley, a stage that is powered by Sunday Funk, is the place to be if you love techno and tech house. Catch the likes of local house maverick, Jazzuelle and Paris' own, Technasia.

The Illusions side stage - which is powered by Household Funk & the Deep Revival crew - presents artists like local vocal powerhouse, Timo ODV and Dutch deep house DJ, Alex Cruz.

Over on the Bass Union stage - which is powered by Lush and Hip Hop and High Tops – commercial house and hip-hop will be the order of the day. Here, your hosts with the most will be DJ Warras and Morgan Beatbox. You can expect to see DJ Switch, Sliqe, PH and more.
Nicci Beach powers the Blame It On The Dance floor stage where you can dance to commercial and deep house cuts courtesy of Bobstar Delux and more after 11pm. Don't miss this after party stage.

Octopia FSTVL promises to be an all-day event to remember. QUEENS HOLD COURT THIS WOMEN’S MONTH


This month, South African music royalty takes its rightful place on the stage and on the decks at The Queens Picnic. Presented by Kwela Tebza, this all-day celebration of women takes place at James Ethel and Gray Park in Johannesburg on Saturday 27 August.



Over 25fierce female singers, dancers and DJs will grace the stage as the queens that they are. Her Majesty, The Queen hitmaker, DJ Zinhle will be on the decks as will the first lady of Durban house, DJ Cndo while SA favourites Khanyi Mbau andChomee will be live and direct.



Other DJs include Ambitiouz Entertainment’s own Miss Pru and fabulous radio personalities, Lerato Kganyago, Poppy Ntshongwana and Ms Cosmo.



Current IT girl, Babes Wodumo, will hit the stage with her electrifying dance moves while the legendary Thembi Seete blazes the stage.



Multi-award-winning hip-hop artist, Fifi Cooper plans to shake things up. Nadia Nakai, who is the sexy first lady of Cassper Nyovest’s Family Tree company will be doing her thing as well as rap newcomer, Lil Red. Your favourite bald-headed chick, skanda queen Moozlie will take to the stage while the award-winning Gigi Lamayne plans to make the stage Shisa.



It wouldn’t be a celebration of the fairer sex if the finest vocalists in the country were not present. Representing all the R&B and house songstresses is Bucie. She won’t be the only one belting out tunes. Expect to see the veteran, Tamara Dey and the Kalawa Chikita herself, Busiswa.



The Iine-up also includes Durban’s own Ntando Duma and Nomzamo Mbatha alongside the vivacious Huddah Monroe and the sultry Denise Zimba.



‘Since August is Women’s Month in South Africa, why not showcase a celebration of this kind. The first annual Queens Picnic plans to honor SA’s finest female talent at one huge gathering’ says Kwela Tebza frontman Tebogo Lerole, ‘We are here to celebrate our queens and all things female.
